So what is Anxiety?
Think of a small child who is always being told No - don't do that or threatened with punishment - or bullied at school or chastised by their peers.
Later in life as an adult that same child might feel that they are constantly 'walking on eggshells' - afraid to express their own thoughts or ideas.
In primitive times people responded to stress and anxiety by using an integrated 'fight or flight' reaction. Our subconscious has not progressed at the exact same rate as technology and other advances in today's society. It is no longer appropriate to battle off the impositions in our life or get away for security - we have to stand up and deal with them.
The results of this change - (whether right or wrong) - is that we internalize our anxieties and they can manifest themselves in numerous ways.
Anxiety can take lots of forms, but typically speaking it is a feeling of unease that is often accompanied by other signs such as fretting needlessly, stress, rapid heartbeat and hyperventilation etc.
Dealing with anxiety can be like having a permanent fog around you.
